Mrs. Godwin’s 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Classes

Some of the math students in Mrs. Godwin’s 6th, 7th, & 8th grade classes at Webster County Schools recently competed in the Junior Math Tournament at Georgia Southwestern State University. The tournament was created about five years ago and has grown to host about 1300 students in grades 3 through 8. Students prepared for this tournament for about two months by spending time after school working challenging problems to improve their critical thinking skills. Participants included (8th grade) Bryce Protho and Alex Mejia-Lopez; (7th grade) Jacob Minick, Audrey Newman, Art Rowland, and Donald Williams; and (6th grade) Lysandra McNeill, Makenzzie Jones, Madison Holbrook, and Hanna Beckum. This was a fun learning opportunity, as students practiced, learned, and taught one another while working hard to master problem solving skills in regards to the standards for their grades.
