The senior class from Webster County High School enjoyed a field trip to the annual lecture series held at Georgia Southwestern State University. The seniors listened to Jaha Dukereh, a 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, speak about her trials and tribulations overcoming female genital mutilation and child marriage in West Africa. Jaha has used her experiences to create a non-profit organization to advocate and provide support for other victims of similar circumstances. These students were inspired by the courage of Jaha, and used this as a platform to discuss the struggles that others face. Jaha’s story reminds us all of the power of a kind humanity!
