Webster’s Students Learn about HOPE Scholarship/Grant and Dual Enrollment

Katie Minich, K12 Outreach Representative, with the Georgia Student Finance Commission met with Webster County High School students and parents on Monday, November 11, 2019. Students in grades 8-12 learned about HOPE Scholarship/Grant, Zell Miller Scholarship, and Dual Enrollment requirements.   Georgia’s Dual Enrollment Program is available to Georgia students in grades 9-12 enrolled in a public school, private school, or home-study program operated pursuant to O.C.G.A. 20-2-690...

Webster County High School’s senior class received hands-on assistance applying to college during the school’s Georgia Apply to College event held Wednesday, November 20, 2019. The seniors applied to over eighty-five (85) colleges and universities. Ms. Sydney and Ms. Shawn’s Class

Ms. Sydney and Ms. Shawn’s class visited Marks Melon Patch in November. We learned about the pumpkin life cycle and all of the different types of pumpkins. We also compared pumpkin sizes and made predictions. We had so much fun!

Students in Mrs. Scott’s government class wrapped up their study of The Bill of Rights with a special activity designed by fellow classmate, Zykeria Thornton. Ms. Thornton planned and executed a lesson detailing the specific freedoms guaranteed in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Ms Gladys’ Moses’ 3rd Grade PE Class

Students in Ms Gladys’ Moses’ 3rd Grade PE class at Webster County Schools are working across the curriculum by incorporating their Language Arts skills with their PE class. Students worked in groups to grab and sort letters to create words. After they finished making their words one of the team mates from each team ran to place the word in the center and ran back. The students really enjoyed this activity and they learned a lot.

Mr. Wilder's 9th grade students; Kalix Holmes, Fulton Bell, Keion Lundy started off the year learning about states of matter as well as physical and chemical properties of matter.  They are shown here prepping seeds for hydroponics grow tubes, and will be monitoring the progress and documenting physical and chemical changes of the seeds during the plant growth.

Mrs. Godwin’s 6th Grade Classes

The math students in Mrs. Godwin’s 6th grade classes at Webster County Schools showed mastery of their skills in regards to ratios and proportions while participating in a Math Frenzy competition. Students were required to independently work on various problems and then show their hard work for comprehension. Students love to compete with one another while showing their prowess.

Bubble Gum Lab

The 6th graders enjoyed a Bubble Gum Lab in Mrs. Godwin’s Math class while expanding their knowledge of ratios into unit rate. To further their understanding of unit rate, each student was given a piece of bubble gum to chew in timed increments. Students were then able to compare the unit rates between their small, large, and comfortable chomps during 15, 30, and 60 second increments. Ms. Wright’s 2nd grade class at Webster County Elementary school is learning about the elements of a story. The class read a book called Froggy Goes to School. After reading, the students had to complete a story map over the story. They had a blast making their frog crafts.
