Mrs. Godwin’s 8th grade math class at Webster County Schools has been working hard to understand Linear Relationships. While collaborating with one another, students were able to problem-solve and think critically, as they developed their comprehension of linear equations, tables, graphs, and verbal descriptions. Students have found that some of them prefer to graph ordered pairs to find their relationships, yet others found it easier to use tables or equations to find these numerical relationships....

The 6th graders enjoyed a Bubble Gum Lab in Mrs. Godwin’s Math class while expanding their knowledge of ratios into unit rate. To further their understanding of unit rate, each student was given a piece of bubble gum to chew in timed increments. Students were then able to compare the unit rates between their small, large, and comfortable chomps during 15, 30, and 60 second increments. Kindergarten students in Mrs. Deidre Sterling’s class at Webster County Elementary School enjoyed listening to this book amongst all the ghosts and goblins used to decorate our Commons! Teaching never stops in Webster County, even when you have to stop for a mid-day room cleaning to stay safe!

The Webster County Elementary school has been studying Fire Safety. The Webster County Fire Truck ambulance and EMTs came to visit and talk with our students in Pre-K - 2nd grade about the importance of Fire Safety. A special thanks goes out to Fire Chief Daryl Holbrook , EMT Scooter Moore, and EMT Dani Roberts of Webster EMS. Students in Mrs. Scott's government class at Webster County High School participated in the YOUth Vote Georgia Mock Election on October 6, 2020. All high school students were able to vote online in this statewide mock election sponsored by the Georgia Center for Civic Engagement.

Picture Retake Day is Wednesday, October 21st on campus. If you missed Fall Pictures in September, please plan to participate in picture retake day. These pictures will be published in the school yearbook.

The Remote Learners follow the same school calendar as the In-person Learners. The week of October 12th, parents for Pre-K-5 will pick up two days work on Monday, October 12th. You must return those packets on October 19th and pick up the work for October 19-22. We will not alter the Monday pick-up and delivery schedules.

Since traditional Saturday Night Trick or Treating is being discouraged, we are excited to announce that students may come to school in dress code appropriate Halloween costumes on Friday, October 30, 2020. We will have a small celebration at school. If you would like to send a bag of candy, it would be greatly appreciated.

Parents, Progress Reports go home Monday, October 5, 2020 for in-person learners. Please sign and return promptly. Parents of remote learners may come to the main office window beginning Monday, October 5th through Friday, October 9th (between 8:00 and 3:00) to sign your child's Progress Report (you will be given a copy).

Mrs. Elaine Nealy (938-9686) is offering free WiFi Monday-Friday (8:00-4:30) at the Family Connections Office in Preston. There are 3 computers (properly spaced) or you can use your own device. You must wear a mask. Webster County Schools also offer free WiFi in the parking lot from (8:00-6:00) Monday-Friday for Webster students.
