Mrs. Beverly Matthews’ Pre-k Class

Mrs. Beverly Matthews’ pre-k class of Webster County School celebrated being in school 100 days on Wednesday, February 22nd.  Each child wanted to bring in 100 things.  We put them in groups of 10 so it would be easier to count.  Pictured with their 100 things is Aubree Patterson who brought 100 Fruit Loops and Judah Remy who brought 100 Cheerios.  Harvey Adams brought 100 Cheerios, Gabriel Brown brought 100 Cheerios, Zoey Cox brought 100 beads, Trevor Adams brought 100...

Mr. Bailey’s Georgia History Class

Mr. Bailey’s Georgia History Class is commemorating the many men and women that fought the greatest fight in U.S. History to pass equal rights legislation for African American since the Reconstruction Era. The Students are creating book marks with pictures of these men and women, along with information highlighting their participation in the struggle. The students pictured are Aniyah Harmon and Sarah Chestnut.

Webster County ‘s Solid Figures

Mrs. Deidre Sterling’s First Grade class is enjoying reviewing 3D Shapes.  Here, students made a model of their favorite solid figure using PlayDoh.  Students are learning to identify the vertices, faces and edges of each 3D shape.

Having Fun with Probability

Webster County 7th graders have been having fun with probability.  They started the unit on Valentine’s Day by counting M&Ms and then finding the probability of the various colors.  They also tossed a big sponge dice to determine the experimental probability of getting the different numbers.  Laturah Burrell-Robinson is shown as she completing her tally sheet for the M&Ms.

Mrs. Jamie McCullough’s 2nd Grade Class

Students in Mrs. Jamie McCullough’s 2nd grade class from Webster County Elementary School have been learning about how to find explicit facts from a fiction and nonfiction text. Students recently read biographies of famous African Americans and the importance of their accomplishments in honor of Black History Month. Students worked in small groups and independently to locate facts and place them on a timeline.

Mrs. Ann Swain’s Reading Class

Mrs. Ann Swain’s reading class of Webster County Middle School is proud to announce its first million word readers. Alisha Sylvester, A’Jadeen  Cunningham, Gracie Paul, and Taylor Harnage have read a million or more words so far this school year. Part of their Reading class is to reach a goal of million words. The Middle School is proud of this outstanding achievement.

Ms. Wright’s 2nd grade class is learning about Polygons. The students were constructing a polygon using toothpicks and marshmallows. After constructing the polygons, the students had to tell the class about their shape. The students present in this picture are Jesten Thomas, Jaydon Casey, Ayden Johnson, and Peyton Weeks.

Mrs. Greene’s Fifth Grade ELA Classes

Students in Mrs. Greene’s fifth grade ELA classes at Webster County Schools have been studying sentence structure all year.  Today they had the opportunity to practice what we have been learning.  Students were placed in groups and given a stack of cards with various sentences about Cinderella that were written either as a simple, compound, or complex sentence.   Students had to determine the sentence structure of each sentence and place it under the correct heading.  ...

Mrs. Selma Mosley-Crawford’s Kindergarten Class

Bailey Hall, a student in Mrs. Selma Mosley-Crawford’s Kindergarten class at Webster County Elementary School uses dominoes to practice adding.  Students had to draw the dots and then count to find the sum of the dots.  They also had to make an addition sentence using the dots on the dominoes.  Bailey really enjoyed finding her answers using the dominoes.

Ms. Betty Eschmann’s Science Classes

Seventh graders in Ms. Betty Eschmann’s science classes at Webster County Schools have been studying about worms and their body structure. They learned that earthworms are segmented worms made up of many linked sections. They learned that earthworms have a brain, reproductive organs, a digestive tract, and a nerve cord. Students recently experimented with earthworms’ responses to lightness and darkness and moisture and dryness. They found that they prefer a dark, moist climate. Pictured...

Mrs. Sallie Minick’s Classroom

Webster County third graders, in Mrs. Sallie Minick’s classroom, are using cross-curriculum nonfiction texts to assist them in developing comprehension skills. Students are seen here reading a passage and answering questions about the Boston Tea Party.  At the conclusion of this lesson, students will be able to answer comprehension questions and draw conclusions by using evidence from the text to support their answers.

Webster FBLA Takes Honors at Regionals

On Friday, January 13, Webster County High School Future Business Leaders of America went to Moultrie, Georgia for the Region Leadership Conference under the supervision of Mr. Michael Baker, FBLA Adviser. FBLA members compete in events at the Region Leadership Conference (RLC) each year in order to qualify for the State Leadership Conference (SLC), which this year will be held in Athens, GA. Webster County FBLA competes in Region 1, which is the southwest most region of the 13 regions in Georgia....
