Sticking to Math

Webster County 6th graders have been learning about integers.  During this activity, students were given sticky notes and an integer to write on it.  They were asked to arrange the numbers from least to greatest.  If someone had a number in the wrong place, the next person had to move their sticky note to the right place and then place the one they had in the right order.  Alex Gomez is shown placing his sticky note on the board.

Mr. Bailey’s Social Studies Classes

M&M’S Fractions

The students in Ms. Wright’s 2nd grade class were learning about “Fractions”. The students were learning about the parts of a fraction which are Numerator and Denominator.  Each student was given a bag of M&M’s for the activity. After completing the activity, the students were able to enjoy their M&M’S. Webster County Schools Sponsor Blood Drive

The Webster County School System will sponsor a blood drive on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The drive will be held in the school cafeteria at 7168 Washington Street, Preston, GA. You may sign up to make donations in the front office at the school or by going to the donation website: www.redcrossblood.org and use “webster” to make your online appointment. Keundre Campbell

Freshman 6-3 Point Guard, Keundre Campbell can be found leading drills and working on his craft daily in Webster County.  His will cannot be defined or rivaled.  At the beginning of the 2016-17 season, Campbell was balancing scoring and leading a team which is not an easy task, not to mention juggling academics and the rigor of high school his first year of school. This week, Mrs. Pamela Alridge’s 5th grade students at Webster County are presenting various U.S. History research topics and questions to their class. Students were given a variety of options to conduct and present their research. They used ipads, computer labs, textbooks, resource books, encyclopedias, and interviews to find information. AWESOME ACCELERATED READING ACHIEVERS

The Webster County students, in Mrs. Eddierene S. On Friday, March 3, the Webster County High School Literary Team, under the leadership of Ms. Beth Blankenship, went to Georgia Southwestern State University to compete in the Area 6 Literary Competition. The students in Mrs. Jamie McCullough’s 2nd grade class at Webster County Elementary have been practicing telling time to the five minute as well as learning how to tell elapsed time. Students worked together as a class to create a timeline of our day with the major events of the day, the start time, how long we spend on it, and what we do in that time. Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!!

To celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday on Thursday, March 2, students in Mrs. Greene’s   4th and 5th grade classes read some of his books. Students learned that the first book he wrote was And To Think I Saw it on Mulberry Street, which was rejected 28 times before someone decided to print it.  This was the beginning of the wonderful Dr. Seuss collection that we have today.  We also enjoyed two of his most popular books:  The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham.  ...

Students in Mrs. Gladys Moses’ physical education class at Webster County Schools are having a ball this year! They have been learning a lot of fun games and activities. Students are learning how to follow directions. The students in Kindergarten are playing a name game using a parachute, bean bags, and all kinds of balls. The students in Kindergarten really enjoyed this game and they learned a lot.

The Webster County fourth and fifth graders in Mrs. Eddierene S. Prather’s reading classes observed Black History month by creating African-American pop-up biographies.  The students were given a list of African-Americans.   The list consisted of poets, authors, musicians, athletes, leaders, actors, and actresses. March news article- Anatomy Eye Dissections

Mrs. Benton’s Senior Anatomy students finished up the unit on The Nervous System this week by dissecting a cow eyeball. After learning all the parts of the eye and their functions and how the brain and eye work together as one unit, the students were able to connect all this knowledge. The students performed the dissection online using Samsung tablets and then performed the actual dissection in class. We were very excited that Dr. Ingram joined us for lab!! On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, Webster County’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America took a trip to South Georgia Technical College to spend the morning with the members of SGTC’s Phi Beta Lambda chapter.
